Abstract:

To summarize the nursing experience of a child with congenital solitary functioning kidney and severe pneumonia supported by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and prone ventilation. Key nursing interventions included multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve efficient initiation and safe out-of-hospital transport of ECMO,restrictive fluid resuscitation to optimize renal protection, prone ventilation guided by electrical impedance tomography(EIT) to support staged pulmonary rehabilitation, infection control led by liaison nurses for infection prevention and control to cut off infection source and whole process management, and family-involved multisensory care to promote psychological recovery. After 30 days of active treatment and comprehensive nursing, the patient’s organ function gradually recovered and she was successfully transferred to a local hospital for further rehabilitation.
