Abstract:

To summarize the perioperative nursing experience of the first spinal cord injury patient treated with a closed-loop spinal cord neural interface system in China. The key nursing points included establishing a comprehensive management team to provide full-spectrum professional support, implementing a phased rehabilitation strategy focused on trunk motor control under the synergistic effect of epidural electrical stimulation(EES),emphasizing neurogenic bladder and bowel management with a scientifically formulated plan to guide stimulator maintenance and management, and providing continuity of care. Through meticulous treatment and nursing, the patient achieved standing with assisted knee locking by postoperative day 15 and was subsequently transferred to a local hospital for further rehabilitation. At the 2-month follow-up,the patient was able to walk 100 meters with a walking aid and step up onto a 5 cm(2 inch) step.
