The training path of nursing students‘ ability for responding to public health emergencies:a qualitative study

Abstract: Objective To explore the potential problems and restrictive factors in the process of ability training for public health emergencies response from the perspective of nursing interns and emergency clinical teachers,to provide reference for the development of emergency response training path for nursing interns. Methods Semi-structured interviews with nursing interns and clinical nursing teachers were conducted in a tertiary class A hospital in Beijing from December 2022 to October 2023. Colaizzi seven step analysis method was used to retract the themes. Results The training of nursing interns‘ ability for responding to public health emergencies can be summarized into three themes:response and training experiences,ability training and the training strategies. Conclusion Medical school and hospital could cooperate to improve the teachers‘ emergency response ability,and clarify training objectives and ability requirements for nursing interns,and combine with the environment of emergency department practice to form the training path through multiple coordination.
