Abstract: To summarize the emergency nursing experience of a patient who underwent emergency thoracotomy for intracardiac mental foreign body removal due to accidental swallowing of the suture needle which penetrated into the adventitia of the pulmonary artery. Comprehensive assessment of the risk of major hemorrhage,pneumothorax,and cardiac tamponade should be carried out because the suture needle has broken into the pericardial cavity and was adjacent to the great blood vessels. According to the expert consensus on emergency treatment of esophageal foreign bodies in adults（2020 version）,the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment plan was quickly launched,the prevention and early identification of bleeding and pneumothorax and standardized transport and handover plans were adjusted in a targeted manner. Close team work allowed the patient valuable time for early surgery. Refinement nutrition management,complication prevention and nursing were the difficult points of postoperative care. After 14 days of treatment and nursing,the patient recovered and was discharged from the hospital. After 3 months of follow-up,the patient was in good condition.
