Abstract: To summarize the nursing experience of thrombus removal under the support of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO) in a patient with postoperative acute pulmonary embolism after paraplegia caused by fall from height. The main nursing points included paying close attention to the recovery of cardiac function after cardiogenic shock, strengthening the nursing during ECMO support, implementation of sequential anticoagulation management, formulation of emergency plans for massive airway bleeding, and implementation of phased holistic rehabilitation training programs. After 13 days of treatment and nursing in the comprehensive intensive care unit, the patient‘s condition was stable and she was transferred back to the orthopaedic ward for further rehabilitation treatment.
