Objective To develop a Public Behavior Intention Scale for Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation （CPR）,and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior（TPB）,a preliminary scale was developed through literature reviewing,a semi-structured interview and the Delphi method. In April 2023,a face-to-face pre-survey was conducted in a community in Yangpu District,Shanghai,to form a test version of the scale. From May to June 2023,786 WeChat users were surveyed by snowball sampling to screen the items of the scale and test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The scale finally retained four dimensions,including behavioral intention,behavioral attitude,subjective norm and perceived behavioral control,with a total of 42 items. The item-level content validity index ranged from 0.867 to 1.000,and the scale-level content validity index was 0.844. The exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 80.817%. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fitting index of the scale structure model was acceptable. The Cronbach‘s alpha coefficient and split-half reliability of the scale were 0.986,0.882 respectively. Conclusion The Public Behavior Intention Scale for Performing CPR has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool for scientific evaluation of public CPR rescue intention and targeted intervention research.
