Analysis of influencing factors of driveline infection after left ventricular assist implantation and nursing enlightenment

Abstract

Objective To explore the influencing factors of driveline infection(DLI) after left ventricular assist device(LVAD) implantation,and put forward targeted nursing countermeasures. Methods A total of 120 patients with LVAD implantation from four medical centers in China from July 2021 to December 2024 were retrospectively selected. The data were collected by the general information questionnaire,the Appraisal of Self-care Agency Scale-Revised(ASAS-R-C) and the Family APGAR Index Questionnaire. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the determinants of DLI. Results The incidence of DLI was 19.17%(23/120). Univariate analysis showed that diabetes(OR=7.320,P<0.001),low self-care ability(OR=0.893,P<0.001) and low family care index(OR=0.450,P<0.001) were significantly correlated with DLI. Multivariate analysis showed that diabetes was an independent risk factor for DLI(OR=6.050,P=0.003),and family care index was a protective factor(OR=0.533,P=0.014). Conclusion The occurrence of DLI is closely related to diabetes,self-care ability and family support. It is recommended to reduce the incidence of DLI by blood glucose control,improving self-management ability and family care.
