Abstract: Objective To describe the clinical characteristics of group thunderstorm asthma and analyze the risk factors for the severity of thunderstorm asthma. Methods A total of 244 patients with thunderstorm asthma in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on September 2,2023 were investigated to describe the clinical characteristics and treatment methods of thunderstorm asthma. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the risk factors for the severity of thunderstorm asthma. Results The number of thunderstorm asthma patients was 244,the peak period of thunderstorm asthma outbreak was within 1-4 hours after the thunderstorm. The patient's symptoms were mainly wheezing and shortness of breath. The effective treatments were inhaled short-acting β 2 receptor agonists and inhaled corticosteroids. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age, allergy history, bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis were risk factors for the severity of thunderstorm asthma. Conclusion The severity of thunderstorm asthma is related to age, history of allergy, history of bronchial asthma, and history of allergic rhinitis. Relevant preventive measures against risk factors are recommended to reduce the risk of severe asthma.
