To summarize the experience of a newborn with closed thoracic drainage by intravenous indwelling catheter during the support of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation （ECMO）. Aimed at the nursing of closed thoracic drainage during ECMO support for the newborn with meconium aspiration syndrome （MAS），individualized nursing measures in the whole process were adopted，including nursing of closed thoracic drainage by intravenous indwelling catheter，response of bleeding event，airway care，infection prevention and control，pain intervention， combination of lung protection and prone position ventilation. After careful treatment and nursing，the patient was discharged steadily，and the follow-up of the patient was in good condition after discharge.
